About Me

This is my story about how and when I started selling Batik clothing on the Costa Del Sol.

It's now over 10 years since I was first introduced to Batik fabrics and the wonderful colourful clothing one can make, using this ancient form of colour dyeing.

I settled in Marbella in 1976, so after 34 years I certainly consider Spain my home. I am a cocktail of Irish/Swedish descent so I love the cosmopolitan atmosphere of the Costa del Sol and the lovely climate here.

For many years I taught English to the local Spanish children then 13 years ago I met Dennis, who is now my husband. If meeting Dennis was a turning point in my life, so was the chance meeting with an old friend, who wondered whether I could be interested in selling colourful beach sarongs.

This friend knew a supplier of Hand Painted Batik sarongs from Indonesia. I thought what better place than the Costa del Sol with it's golden beaches to start selling sarongs. I soon realised people appreciated what I had to offer in this wonderful Batik material. I started out selling in the local markets of the Costa Del Sol, and before long my business had grown from just sarongs to having a shop offering my own range of stylish Batik clothing and accessories, and now this on-line internet shop.

I work closely with Indonesian family run businessess and between us we design my own label " Ingrid Batik Fashion" clothing for women of all ages and sizes.  I also have summer dresses for children and shirts for men.

I am so fortunate to have customers who appreciate and enjoy my unique Batik clothing and I must add it is so pleasing when people comment on how attractive and colourful my shop looks.
